Derik Hobbs is an Illustrator and Designer from a small town in Tennessee. Graduating with a BFA in Illustration at Savannah College of Art and Design, he developed an illustrated voice that both mirrored and challenged his personality and thought process. His work has gained accolades from Society of Illustrators, Applied Arts, Creative Quarterly, and been featured in exhibitions across the U.S. from NYC to Savannah, Georgia. He appreciates quietness and ominous elements of life and his surroundings, observing nature and wildlife to find rhythms and repetitions that are visually stimulating. Those themes translate into his draftsmanship and design language, his finesse with color and rhythm are also catalysts for the mood he wishes to create. His work commonly carries a theme of allegorical elements and sometimes-subtle metaphors, and is carried by his meticulous use of line and repetition. Derik currently resides in Nashville, TN where he is working as a freelance artist and illustrator.
